RSI Corp, located in Barber County, Kiowa, KS, has provided expert Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) services to some of the largest Network Operations Data Centers (NOC), Hyperscale AI data centers, and Broadcast sites. Their clients include Verizon, AT&T, T-Mobile, the Department of Defense, Utility groups, Black & Veatch, UPS, and FedEx. This post explores how RSI Corp supports these critical infrastructures through thorough EH&S surveys, tailored programs, inspections, and training, helping clients maintain compliance and safety in demanding environments.

A Strong Foundation in Radiofrequency Safety and Compliance

RSI Corporation began in 1996/1997, founded by Steven Walz with a clear focus on radiofrequency (RF) compliance. At a time when wireless infrastructure was rapidly expanding, RSI recognized the need for expert guidance to ensure safe operations around radio towers and related equipment. The company provided hazard assessments, compliance programs, and training tailored to the unique challenges of RF exposure.

This early focus positioned RSI as a trusted partner for tower sites, network operations centers (NOCs), broadcasters, utility groups, and government facilities. Their expertise helped clients meet regulatory requirements while protecting workers and the public from potential safety hazards.

Expanding Services to Meet Diverse Industry Needs

As wireless technology and safety regulations evolved, RSI expanded its offerings beyond telecommunications safety compliance in the early 2000s. The company adapted to serve industries such as public safety, agriculture, oil and gas, construction, and general industry. This growth included:

  • Two-way radio sales and service: RSI became an authorized dealer for Kenwood and ICOM radios, providing sales, programming, installation, and maintenance.

  • Security with CCTV systems: Installation and servicing of surveillance systems to enhance site security.

  • Public safety communications: Supporting 911 centers and emergency radio systems to improve response capabilities.

  • Tower sales and installation: Providing infrastructure solutions for communication networks.

  • Repeater systems: Enhancing radio coverage and reliability.

  • Oil and gas SCADA solutions: Delivering monitoring and control systems tailored to the energy sector.

  • Computer repair and networking: Supporting IT infrastructure needs for clients.

This broad range of services allowed RSI to become a one-stop shop for communication and safety solutions, especially in the Kansas-Oklahoma border region.

In addition to communications and safety, RSI’s related division, Borderline Electric, offered licensed electrical contracting services. This includes residential, commercial, and industrial electrical work. Borderline Electric also operated as an authorized dealer for Generac generators, providing reliable backup power solutions.

This diversification strengthens RSI’s ability to support clients with integrated services, from electrical infrastructure to communication and safety systems. In 2018, Borderline Electric was successfully acquired by Eck Services of Kingman, Kansas, ensuring continued high-quality service to the region’s customers.

Commitment to Education and Compliance Nationwide

RSI’s success is built on a foundation of education and compliance. The company delivers training programs and compliance consulting to help organizations understand and meet regulatory standards. This commitment ensures safer workplaces and communities.

By keeping abreast of evolving regulations and technologies, RSI assists clients in avoiding expensive violations and sustaining operational efficiency. With a nationwide presence, they are equipped to support a variety of industries with customized solutions.
